Artist Statement
Observational drawing-research informs my work in color and form, creating botanical science fiction-like pieces that make an organic layered narrative. Constantly curious and playful, my paintings take unexpected turns and jumps while in the making.
Some of the paintings have an x-factor woven into the process by allowing other people to paint/draw in intervals on the pieces. Creating a static distillation of the kinetic call and response like residue of marks and color left by each individual. The solo acts of painting in private, acts like a cathartic controlled graffiti wall, or a visual message board that I then edit and piece together.
